FeaturedCommentsI really loved this! I can color some of your drawings? (Done in photoshop cs6)
If you want a digital color art example, I give to you. Warning -- criticism (hopefully constructive) follows. IANAA (I Am Not An Artist), but I have some ability to see what I'm looking at (I hope). This is my first critical comment to an artist, and I hope is not excessively painful. Certainly, no malice is intended.
Faces, shoulders, breasts, hair very nice, need no improvement, very appealing. Shading a little plain but not jarring, fits the semi-cartoonish style. Hips and limbs need work ("Firestar" legs are noteably an exception to this, they are excellent), are not particularly well-proportioned. "Bend Forward, Babe" is an example of what I'm talking about -- human legs don't just extrude from the torso; everyone has hips. You have to be pretty overweight before they're invisible; she needs some. In "Looking for something" this is exaggerated; the legs again fine, but the hips and pelvis so small as to be caricature when the rest of the figure plainly is not. In "Motoko Kusanagi" the ribcage and hips are too small for the legs and breasts; arms and hips are also trouble here, the arms are too small for the rest of the figure. Maybe more study of some of the photographic works here? pelicanh does some very good erotic photos, unmodified, as does markdaughn. You don't have to be photorealistic, but the arms and hips are noticeably too thin and would be less jarring if better proportioned. On balance, you do good work with the potential to be significantly above just "good." Okay, I've said enough; I hope not too much. I do, whatever I've said above, enjoy looking at your work as is. |
